2 Ted & Eleanor Lustig Our Store at 1256 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago Circa 1970’s Ted & Dan Lustig All my life, my father, Ted Lustig, was my mentor and my hero. He taught me to always look at the big picture when making decisions. Since 1949, my father’s vision for the company was to provide all of our customers with a service experience that they would never forget. As I was growing up, my father always wanted to say YES to every customer’s request, avoiding at all costs the word NO. This philosophy was taught to all employees as an important part of our culture. Though my dad passed away a little over two years ago, his philosophy is still an important part of our business today. In 1982, my mom, Eleanor Lustig, defined our commitment to service with the slogan “Come in as a customer... Leave as our friend.” My father hired Roman, our outstanding jeweler, 35 years ago. Roman is the rare jeweler that was taught at an early age how to make jewelry by hand. This entails making every single part of the piece of jewelry by hand, not simply hand cutting wax and casting the piece. What makes Roman so special is his ability to use this old-school knowledge to create beautiful pieces of jewelry using todays 3D CAD technology. This technology enhances his ability to bring the jewelry design of your dreams to life. Roman is meticulous and takes pride in creating and repairing jewelry that will last for decades. 74 Years OF UNPARALLELED SERVICE OLD WORLD REPAIR AND CUSTOM DESIGN MEET NEW WORLD TECHNOLOGY OuR HISToRY My father served in WWII, as a photographer, being stationed in the Phillipines. Upon arriving home, he worked as a cab driver, then a door to door installment dealer. Later, he opened our hallmark store at 1256 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago, which was incorporated as Lustig Clothiers and Jewelers. This unique store was 6000 square feet of jewelry, men’s clothing, appliances, stereo equipment, cameras, china, stemware, luggage, etc... basically, an old fashion department store. It wasn’t until 1975 that my father decided to focus simply on the jewelry end of the business. I joined the business full time after graduating college in 1979. In 1986, we opened our satellite store at the Hawthorn Shopping Center in Vernon Hills and later moved to the Aspen Pointe center in 2006, where we remain today. Lastly, I want to thank my staff who have been with my family for so many years and are like family. Roman, as I previously noted, has been with my family for 35 years, Sally for 43 years, Paula 35 years, Jill 26 years, and our newest addition, Girly, is now 2 years with us. I know it’s comforting when our customers see a familiar face, unlike most companies today. My staff and I look forward to many more years serving our community. Best wishes for a healthy, happy holiday season from my family and staff. Dan Lustig 2023 HOLIDAY LOOKBOOK 302
