Youth Education 94 SCHOOLS & CLASSES (CONTINUED) HANALANI SCHOOLS Nestled on six beautiful acres in Mililani, Hanalani Schools has nurtured, challenged, and prepared students for success in both college and life for over 65 years! Hanalani seeks to enrich the whole child—mentally, physically, and spiritually—and develop successful leaders by offering high-quality programs focused on three foundational pilrequirements before attending any school (public or private) in the state for the first time. These requirements include: • Birth certificate or proof of age • Proof of current address • Document from last school attended • Physical examination completed within one year of school entry • Up-to-date immunization record • TB clearance (written proof of a negative skin test, Mantoux/PPD or chest x-ray performed within the U.S. during the last year) On the Hawaii Public School website, check “Enrolling For School” under the “Parents & Students” tab for full details. REQUIRED IMMUNIZATION Prior to kindergarten, students must show proof of DTaP or DIP, Polio, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hepatitis B and Varicella (chickenpox) vaccines. Starting with SY 2020-21, additional immunizations are now required for students entering childcare or preschool, kindergarten, 7th grade, and post-secondary schools, and all students entering school in Hawaii for the first time, regardless of age. Coinciding with national recommendations, updated requirements reflect what occurs in healthcare provider offices and clinics in Hawaii as standard medical practice. Visit VaxToSchoolHawaii.com for details. Hawaii state law requires all public school students complete a physical exam– lars: core knowledge/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math), critical skills, and Christian character. For students in grades K3–6, Hanalani’s Lower School program offers classroom technology, organized sports, robotics, art, music, eco-garden, overnight camps and outer-island trips, a three- time nationallyrecognized student government program, a champion Elementary Science Olympiad (ESO) team, and more! also called a well-child visit–within 12 months before starting 7th grade. On the day of your child’s appointment, please provide the primary care provider with a Student Health Form (Form 14) that can be downloaded from the HIDOE website under “Parents & Students” and “Enrolling In School.” The form is also available from physicians and school offices. For details on immunization requirements, also call Aloha United Way (808536-1951) or State of Hawaii Department of Health Immunization Branch (808-5868300).
